Chef Martin Ian Maginley was most recently executive chef at SuperClubs, Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa, where he enriched the culinary dining experience to a new level. There he was responsible for seven dining outlets and oversaw a staff of 90. Prior to his executive chef position, he served as executive sous chef and sous chef at The Grand Lido and sous chef at Four Seasons Regent Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
Maginley graduated from George Brown College in Toronto, where he also completed his apprenticeship. He has appeared on national television, including live demonstrations on such programs as The Today Show and Fox 5 Morning Show, NBC Chicago, Montreal Global TV and many more; participated in store promotional events; and has been written up in national publications, such as Food & Wine magazine and Caribbean Travel & Life. He has won 42 Gold, 27 Silver and 19 Bronze awards from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and has been the recipient of the top award in the Caribbean "Chef of the Caribbean" for two consecutive years. He also helped create the highly successful "Epicurean Escape" in association with Food & Wine Magazine. For the past nine years, 35 international celebrity chefs, including Hawaii's Culinary Ambassador Sam Choy; Fabio Trabocchi of Maestro at the Ritz Carlton and James Beard Award Winner in 2006; Kerry Simon of Simon Kitchen & Grill in Nevada and Efisio Faris of Arcodoro Restaurant in Houston, have come to Jamaica to participate in the annual five-day event celebrating great cuisine and fine wines, with interactive cooking seminars; cooking competitions and grand gala seven-course formal dinners at this extraordinary gastronomic event.
